Webinar “Radiations in our homes and environment

 

    IIn the frame of BSB27 Monitox project, Leader Partner 1 – "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, Romania – will organize on 14th÷ May 2021 the Webminar "Radiations in our homes and environment".

The following topics will be discussed in the frame of the webinar:

  • the types and sources of nuclear radiations and detection methods,
  • the emission of radioactive gases radon and thoron in homes and the environment,
  • maps of radioactive pollution,
  • assessment of radiation doses absorbed by the human body and internal tissues and organs exposed to radiation from external sources (environment, waste, geological background) and internal (inhalation of radionuclides, ingestion of water and food),
  • the assessment of the radiological and population health risk of radioactive isotopes present in soils and building materials.

Partner institutions from Galati: Theoretical high school “Emil Racoviță”, College of food industry “Elena Doamna”, Technological high school “Costache Conachi” Pechea and General School no. 24.

The event is related to the project results PR4) Enhanced knowledge and expertise linked with the monitoring of toxic compounds to be applied in the process of the training of professionals from the field and future specialists in the Black Sea Basin & PR5) Improved public availability of environmental information in the Black Sea Basin and stronger consciousness of different target groups about the health effects of environmental toxic pollutants.
